Detailed Description

auxD128/auxK47 adult escapers exhibit severely malformed imaginal disc-derived structures, including their eyes.

Only approximately 25% of facets in auxD128/auxK47 flies are wild type.

auxD128/auxK47 flies show notching of the wing.

auxL7/auxK47 animals are viable at 25oC but do not survive at 18oC. The escapers have wild-type wings.

auxK47/auxD128 escapers have rough eyes with disorganised ommatidia. Many of the ommatidia have too many photoreceptor cells, some have too few and some ommatidia are fused.

auxK47/auxD128 escapers have extra vein material in the wings and the wings are notched.

Addition of Chc+t14.3 to a auxD128/auxK47 background increases the eclosion frequency of adults markedly. The mutant eye phenotype of those rescued animals is suppressed somewhat (from 8% to 28% wild-type ommatidia).

Addition of lqf+t16240.T:Avic\GFP to a auxD128/auxK47 background increases the eclosion frequency of adults markedly. The mutant eye phenotype of escaper auxD128/auxK47 flies is also suppressed (from 8% to 62% wild-type ommatidia).

auxD128/auxK47 mutant flies carrying both Chc+t14.3 and lqf+t16240.T:Avic\GFP exhibit remarkably normal-appearing eyes (97% wild-type ommatidia). However, no increase in viability is seen in these flies above the level observed with lqf+t16240.T:Avic\GFP alone.

Chc1/+ ; auxD128/auxK47 adults cannot be recovered.

Chc+t14.3 completely suppresses the mutant wing phenotype of auxD128/auxK47 flies and significantly suppresses the mutant facet phenotype of auxD128/auxK47 flies.
