Photoreceptor cells are absent from the centers but not the borders of lqfARI homozygous somatic clones in the eye disc.

Homozygous embryos have an excess of cardioblasts; 200 +/- 41 cardioblasts develop in homozygotes compared to 104 +/- 7 cardioblasts in wild-type embryos. The cardioblasts are arranged in three to four poorly organised rows in the mutant embryos (in wild-type embryos they form two cell rows). The number of pericardial cells is relatively normal, although their organisation is slightly disrupted. When raised at 18oC, 10% of mutant embryos show the excess cardioblast phenotype. 2.5% of heterozygotes have an extra notal bristle.

Heterozygosity for one of Dl3 or neur1 increases the frequency of lqfARI embryos that show an excess cardioblast phenotype at 18oC. The weak excess cardioblast phenotype seen in Nl1N-ts1 embryos raised at 30oC is dominantly enhanced by lqfARI. lqfARI dominantly enhances the expressivity and penetrance of all Dl3/+ wing vein phenotypes. 40% of N55e11 ; lqfARI double heterozygotes have extra notal bristles.
