Fat body cells in third instar larvae expressing sud1^GD742 under the control of Scer\GAL4^ppl.PU are smaller than those of controls (assessed by area of cell nucleus).

Pupae expressing sud1^GD742 under the control of Scer\GAL4^ppl.PU are smaller than control pupae.

Expression of sud1^GD742 under the control of Scer\GAL4^en.PU results in significantly reduced growth in the posterior compartment of the wing. This is due to both a reduction in both cell number and cell size.

Adults expressing sud1^GD742 under the control of Scer\GAL4^elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2^Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
