Expression of GαoGD8640 under the control of Scer\GAL4GH146 or Scer\GAL4NP2631, but not Scer\GAL4NP0225, in combination with a Dicer-2 transgene to enhance RNAi efficiency, significantly reduces short term aversive olfactory memory in adults, compared to controls.

Expression of GαoGD8640 under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 results in a folded wing phenotype (78% penetrance), due to a failure of wing expansion after eclosion. The flies also show a multiple wing hair phenotype.

The number of natural synaptopods (motile filopodia-like extensions) at type II neuromuscular junctions is significantly increased compared to wild type in third instar larvae expressing G-oα47AGD8640 under the control of Scer\GAL4Tdc2.PC. The number of type II boutons at the neuromuscular junction is also increased in these larvae.

The number of type I boutons at the neuromuscular junction is normal in third instar larvae expressing G-oα47AGD8640 under the control of Scer\GAL4Tdc2.PC.

The number of type I boutons at the neuromuscular junction is increased compared to wild type in third instar larvae expressing G-oα47AGD8640 under the control of either Scer\GAL4futsch-C380 or Scer\GAL4BG439.

kermitSH0225/+ partially suppresses (to 22% penetrance) the folded wing phenotype caused by expression of GαoGD8640 under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096.

The multiple wing hair phenotype seen in flies expressing GαoGD8640 under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 is partially suppressed if they are heterozygous for either kermitSH0225 or kermitex31, and is almost completely suppressed by co-expression of kermitKK101898.

Co-expression of GαoGD8640 has no effect on the wing defects caused by expressing kermitScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096.
