Expression of Sep4Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4Ddc.PL or Scer\GAL4ple.PF results in a significant reduction in the number of dopaminergic (DA) neurons in the dorsomedial cluster of the brain in 40-day old flies. In contrast, the number of DA neurons in other clusters, like PPL1, PPL2, PPM3, VUM and PAL, are not reduced in these experiments.

Expression of Sep4Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in very mild rough eyes, though such eyes have a normal complement and morphology of photoreceptors.

Scer\GAL4da.G32-driven expression of two copies of Sep4Scer\UAS.cMa results in obvious wing phenotypes, ranging from slightly curved to severely wrinkled wings. (No phenotype is observed when one copy of Sep4Scer\UAS.cMa is used.)

The penetrance of the wing phenotype caused by expression of two copies of Sep4Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 is enhanced if the flies are also heterozygous for one of Df(2L)XE-2750, Df(3L)GN34, Df(3L)81k19, Df(3L)BSC8, Df(3L)ri-XT1, Df(3R)T-32 or Df(3R)DG2.

The penetrance of the wing phenotype caused by expression of two copies of Sep4Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 is not enhanced if the flies are also heterozygous for one of Ubi-p63EEY07341, RopG27, tznKG07968, cysuc00427, Dete01527, CG5823f04935, CG5823EY15491, RimEY12862 or RimEY05246.

Heterozygosity for Nedd4T119FS enhances the wing phenotype caused by expression of two copies of Sep4Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32.

The reduction in the number of dopaminergic neurons in the dorsomedial clusters of 40-day old adult brains caused by expression of Sep4Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4Ddc.PL or Scer\GAL4ple.PF is almost restored back to control levels when of parkScer\UAS.cMa is coexpressed.

Heterozygosity for parkΔ21 enhances the loss of dopaminergic neurons in the dorsomedial clusters of 40-day old adult brains caused by expression of Sep4Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4Ddc.PL.

Heterozygosity for parkΔ21 increases the percentage of Sep4Scer\UAS.cMa, Scer\GAL4da.G32 flies showing a wrinkled wing phenotype.

Heterozygosity for Df(3L)Pc-MK, which uncovers park, causes partial lethality to flies expressing Sep4Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32, but the percentage of escapers showing wrinkled wings is increased compared to Sep4Scer\UAS.cMa, Scer\GAL4da.G32 flies.

The mild rough eye phenotype seen in flies expressing Sep4Scer\UAS.cMa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF is enhanced in flies heterozygous for either parkΔ21 or Df(3L)Pc-MK, and is further enhanced in parkΔ21/Df(3L)Pc-MK trans-heterozygous flies.
