Description

Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion, resulting in a 1.2kb deletion that removes debcl sequences including the ATG codon and the first intron/exon boundary, while the promoter remains intact. A smaller than normal debcl transcript is made in the mutant, using a cryptic splice site in the first exon, which is spliced to exon 2. The first ATG in this transcript that is in the correct reading frame of debcl lies in the middle of exon 2, in the center of the conserved BH3 domain and has a good Kozak sequence upstream of it, but it is not known whether this protein is stably produced.
