Retinal extracts of flies expressing rdgAScer\UAS.cRa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF show a significant elevation of a single species of phosphatidic acid (predicted fatty acyl composition 16:0 / 18:2 ) compared to controls. The levels of phosphatidylcholine, diacylglycerol and phosphatidylinositol in the retinal extracts are normal.

Expression of rdgAScer\UAS.cRa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF results in accumulation of membraneous and vesicular transport intermediates in the cell body of the photoreceptor cells.
