Expression of atlScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4C57 results in a significant reduction of microtubules in the body wall muscles of larvae. Partial or complete detachment of muscles from their attachment sites is also seen, resulting in defects in muscle shape.

Expression of atlScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4C57 at 18[o]C partially restores the reduction of the combined surface area of muscles 6 and 7 of segment A2 that is seen in atl2/Df(3R)Exel7357 larvae. In addition, the bouton number/muscle area is completely rescued and dense clusters of boutons are rarely seen in the rescued animals.

Expression of atlScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 at 18[o]C does not rescue either bouton number or muscle size in atl2/Df(3R)Exel7357 larvae.

Expression of atlScer\UAS.cLa under the control of either Scer\GAL4ple.PF, Scer\GAL4DAT.PL or Scer\GAL4Ddc.PL partially rescues the ability of atl1 flies to climb after vortexing. In addition, the rescued flies do not show age-dependent degeneration of dopaminergic neurons even 15 days after eclosion.

Expression of atlScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4Cha.Switch.PL does not rescue the climbing ability of atl1 flies after vortexing.

Expression of atlScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 almost completely rescues the ability of atl1 flies to climb after vortexing.
