Description

312 bp deletion in the second exon of W, resulting in a frame shift and premature stop. The truncated 176 aa protein lacks the C-terminal hydrophobic region required for mitochondrial localisation, but retains the RHG domain and two MAKPK phosphorylation sites.

Detailed Description

Reference

Ww138 homozygous survivors have non-transparent wings, degenerated humeral bristles and additional interommatidial cells in the pupal retina.

Ww138 mutant clones occupy a slightly larger area in the adult eye compared to control wildtype clones.

Apoptosis induced by irradiation in eye and wing discs is significantly blocked in a Ww138 mutant background.

The high levels of apoptosis (detected by Caspase-3 staining) observed in Rbf15aΔ;Stam19 double homozygous somatic in third instar larval eye disc is completely abolished when the clones are created in hidw138 mutant background.

Rbf15aΔ; Ww138 double mutant clones occupy a dramatically increased area of the eye compared to Rbf15aΔ single mutant clones. The morphology of the eye is relatively normal with occasional extra interommatidial bristles. No cell death or nuclear pyknosis is observed in eye disc clones.
