Somatic clones of Stam19/Stam19 cells in the third instar larval eye or wing disc display low levels of apoptosis (detected by Caspase-3 staining) and show abnormal localization of rho in endosomes, which often display both early and late markers.
Differentiation of the R8 photoreceptor in Stam19/Stam19 somatic clones in the third instar larval eye disc is normal but differentiation of other photoreceptors is slightly delayed.

Somatic clones of Rbf15aΔ;Stam19 double homozygous cells display significantly higher levels of apoptosis in third instar larval wing and eye discs, even in clones posterior to the eye disc morphogenetic furrow, compared to clones homozygous for either Rbf15aΔ or Stam19 alone. In the adult eye, the double homozygous clones are very small and difficult to recover compared to each of the single homozygous clones.
The high levels of apoptosis (detected by Caspase-3 staining) observed in Rbf15aΔ;Stam19 double homozygous somatic in third instar larval eye disc is completely abolished when the clones are created in hidw138 mutant background.
