Extracellular bristle recordings of i-type labellar taste sensilla that are expressing ppk28Scer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4Gr66a.3.153 show a response to water, in contrast to controls. The response is blunted as the solute concentration is increased, with both N-methyl-D-glucamine and sucrose producing dose-sensitive response decreases in the mutant sensilla.
ppk28UAS.cCa/Scer\GAL4ppk28.PC partially rescues ppk28Δ
The electrophysiological response of l-type labellar taste sensilla to water is partially restored in ppk28Δ animals by expression of ppk28Scer\UAS.cCa under the control of Scer\GAL4ppk28.PC. The rescued flies also show normal water consumption (as assayed by the drinking time).
