Site of nucleotide substitution in mutant inferred by FlyBase based on reported amino acid change. Nucleotide change unspecified, T to A or T to G.
soloZ2-3534/Df(2L)A267 females show 60.0% X chromosome nondisjunction. Crossing over on the X chromosome is substantially and uniformly reduced in three euchromatic intervals and more moderately reduced in the interval encompassing the X centromere. Sister chromatid exchange on the X chromosome is increased compared to controls.
solo7/soloZ2-3534 females show chromosome 2 nondisjunction.
Both homologous centromere pairing and centromere clustering appear to be disrupted by early-mid pachytene of meiosis I in soloZ2-3534/Df(2L)A267 females. Sister chromatid cohesion appears intact at early-mid pachytene, but by late pachytene, some sister centromere pairs appear to have separated prematurely in more than half of the mutant oocyte nuclei. Synaptonemal complex morphology is abnormal, with fragmentation and degeneration of the lateral elements and central regions of the synaptonemal complex at all stages of pachytene. The formation of meiotic double strand breaks is not impaired in the mutant germaria, but there is a transient delay in repair of these breaks compared to wild type.
soloZ2-3534/Df(2L)A267 males show a high frequency (58.0%) of sex chromosome nondisjunction in meiosis.
soloZ2-3534/soloZ2-0198 males show a high frequency (54.1%) of sex chromosome nondisjunction in meiosis.
Crossover frequency in the X euchromatin (pn-f interval) is reduced 65-fold in soloZ2-3534 ordZ5736/soloZ2-0198 ord5 females compared to doubly heterozygous sibling controls. This reduction is intermediate in value between those of ord or solo single mutants.
