The expression of Su(Tpl)HMS00277 under the control of Scer\GAL4pnt-14-94 leads to a severe decrease in the number of type II neuroblasts per third instar larval brain lobe, which also exhibit decreased progeny as compared to controls; expression under the control of Scer\GAL4insc-Mz1407 also leads to a severe decrease in the number of type II neuroblasts per third instar larval brain lobe, which exhibit normal cortical polarity, as compared to controls; expression under the control of Scer\GAL4ase.neuro, but not Scer\GAL4pnt-14-94, also leads to a small but significant decrease in the number of type I neuroblasts, as compared to controls.

Embryos from mothers expressing Su(Tpl)HMS00277 under the control of Scer\GAL4VP16.mat.αTub67C show posterior-specific loss of cells in embryos prior to gastrulation.
