Expressing tsrHMS00534 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PU leads to larvae showing disruption of muscle fiber structure and sarcomere organization.

Expressing tsrHMS00534 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PW disrupts the structure of larval muscles (starting at the second instar stage, which increased throughout the third instar stage), including disruption of the sarcomeric structure, decrease in sarcomere number with a concomitant increase in sarcomere length, and fewer sarcomeric F-actin bands; at the poles of defective muscles, the Z discs appear to be crosslinked by long actin filaments that are different sizes and disarrayed, instead of actin filaments of a specific length. These muscle defects correlate well with a reduction in larval crawling ability (starting at the second instar stage).
