Expression of glodsRNA.Scer\UAS.cUa does not lead to wing posture or jumping ability defects (with the Scer\GAL4Mhc.PU driver) and but it does loss of dopaminergic neurons from the PPL1 cluster in the adult brain (with the Scer\GAL4ple.PF driver).

Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16- or Scer\GAL4bam.T:Hsim\VP16-mediated expression of eIF4GHMS00762 does not result in sterility or abnormal testes in males. However, Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16-mediated expression of eIF4GHMS00762in females results arrests oogenesis at pre-vitellogenic stages.

Scer\GAL4C587 eIF4GHMS00762 males produce significantly fewer progeny. In a majority of the mutant testes, primary spermatocyte cysts show decreased spatial organization and over-proliferation. As compared to wild-type, meiotic and post-meiotic stages are under-represented and sperm maturation also appears to be affected. Nuclei with varying degrees of condensation are found dispersed in the elongated spermatids, and needle-like sperm nuclear bundles are detected both at the caudal and rostral end of the sperm tails.

The wing posture and jumping ability defects characteristic for Pink1B9 adult homozygotes are exacerbated by expression (controlled by either the Scer\GAL4Mhc.PU muscle driver) of eIF4G1HMS00762; Scer\GAL4ple.PF-driven expression of eIF4G1HMS00762 in the Pink1B9 mutant background is lethal. Similarly, the abnormal mitochondrial morphology in the flight muscles of adult flies expressing Pink1dsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Mhc.PU is worsened further by co-expression of eIF4G1HMS00762.

Males expressing both eIF4GHMS00762 and eIF4G2GL00469 via Scer\GAL4nos.UTR.T:Hsim\VP16 are sterile and produce rudimentary testes. The apical tips are filled with masses of dividing cells, indicating an arrest before the primary spermatocyte stage.
