Expression of a single copy of zipRod.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E results in the posterior wing margin having a slightly wavy appearance in the plane of the wing and the density of wing hairs on the posterior wing surface is not consistently uniform. Cells in the posterior wing have a multiple wing hair phenotype. Expression of two copies of zipRod.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E results in a more severe phenotype; 85% of wings show loss of posterior compartment tissue.

Expression of a single copy of zipRod.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E in a zip1/+ background results in a more severe phenotype than expression in a wild-type background.

Expression of zipRod.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4ap-md544 results in epidermal cells of the thorax having multiple or branched setae. Microchaetae and macrochaetae on the thorax may also show a branched phenotype, or multiple chaetae extending from a single socket cell may also be seen.

Co-expression of fzScer\UAS.cAa enhances the penetrance of the multiple wing hair phenotype caused by expression of zipRod.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E. In addition, the double mutant wings also show polarity defects.

The multiple wing hair phenotype caused by expression of zipRod.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E is suppressed by ck7/+ and by ck13/+.

Co-expression of ckScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP enhances the penetrance of the multiple wing hair phenotype caused by expression of zipRod.Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E.
