The expression of trrHMS01019 under the control of Scer\GAL4VP16.nos.UTR leads to female sterility as eggs do not enter embryogenesis because they do not initiate embryo mitotic divisions. The eggs do not support male pronucleus formation (and Protamine B is not removed). Meiosis is invariably completed but seems unsuccessful (shown by abnormal polar body rosettes). Ovary morphology, ovarian follicle development, mature egg size, prophase I oocyte chromatin architecture and meiotic chromosome retraction into the metaphase I plate are indistinguishable from controls.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4bam.PU does not affect male fertility,

Individuals expressing trrHMS01019 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR14H06 do not show the expected reduction in courtship in rejected flies compared to naive flies normally observed in controls and, as a result, show a significantly lower learning index.
