UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of a 500bp inverted repeat.
Expression of orbNIG.10868R under the control of Scer\GAL4VT016811, Scer\GAL4VT041043, Scer\GAL4VT048852 or Scer\GAL4VT044170, in combination with a Gal80[ts] transgene to restrict expression to the 5-7 days of the adult stage immediately before, and the 24 h during, experimentation, significantly impairs aversive olfactory long term memory in adults, compared to controls, when flies undergo spaced, but not massed, training; in the case of Scer\GAL4VT016811 and Scer\GAL4VT041043, there is no effect on aversive olfactory short term memory following a single training session, compared to controls.
