Expression of His1:CG31617NIG.31617R under the control of Scer\GAL4nub.PU leads to extensive apoptosis (assayed by activated Casp3 staining) in the the pouch region of third instar larval wing discs and to severely underdeveloped small and deformed adult wings.

The extensive cell death in the pouch region of wing discs in third instar larvae as well as the small and deformed wings in adults expressing His1:CG31617NIG.31617R under the control of Scer\GAL4nub.PU are significantly suppressed by co-expression of any of the following mei-41KK101792, pucScer\UAS.cMa or bskKK108156 but not p53GD4483 whereas co-expression of p53H159N.Scer\UAS.Ex enhances both the larval and adult phenotypes. The adult wing defects can also be partially rescued by co-expression of tefuGD11950, grpGD4189 or lokKK100813.
The small and deformed wings characteristic for flies expressing His1:CG31617NIG.31617R under the control of Scer\GAL4nub.PU can be partially rescued by co-expression of Hsap\RNASEH1Scer\UAS.cBa.
