Axon regeneration of class IV da neurons in the ventral nerve cord (after axon severing at the commissure junction at 48 hours after egg laying) is dramatically stimulated in mutant larvae compared to wild type (70.6% of the mutant segments containing a severed axon show regeneration compared to 25% in wild type). The mutant severed axons show increased sprouting compared to controls, and many of them regrow beyond the lesion site, show extensive terminal branching once they regrow into commissures and bridge the severed commissure segments.
PtenMGH6 has increased cell growth rate | second instar larval stage | conditional phenotype, suppressible by RtcaUAS.cSa/Scer\GAL4ppk.PU
PtenMGH6 is a non-enhancer of increased cell growth rate | second instar larval stage | conditional phenotype of RtcaNP5057
Overexpression of RtcaScer\UAS.cSa driven by Scer\GAL4ppk.PU abolishes enhancement of axon regeneration seen in PtenMGH6/PtenMGH6 larvae.
Regeneration is not enhanced in RtcaNP5057;PtenMGH6 double mutants.
