Homozygous olfactory receptor neuron (ORN) clones result in complete loss of the Or33c and Or42a-expressing ORNs and a mild reduction in cell number of the Or67d, Or22a and Or59c ORNs.

Homozygous ORN clones result in defects in glomerulus targeting. Mutant Or59c ORNs show a strong mistargeting phenotype.

Neurons in primary neuron cultures derived from mutant embryos have significantly smaller lamellipodia and significantly longer neurites compared to wild-type controls.

Homozygous border cells show defects in migration: many of the mutant cells show no migration at all, and more than 80% of mutant clusters fail to reach the oocyte by stage 10.

Heterozygous border follicle cells have shorter actin-rich protrusions than controls.

Rbf15aΔ/Rbf15aΔ is synthetic lethal with psidin55D4/psidin55D4, as double mutant clones are not or rarely found in the eye; as consequence, eyes are smaller. Both phenotypes are exacerbated in a Minute background.

Rbf15aΔ/Rbf15aΔ, psidin55D4/psidin55D4 double mutant clones in the wing disc show increased apoptosis.

The reduction in lamellipodia size and increase in neurite length which is seen in neurons in primary neuron cultures derived from psidin55D4 embryos are suppressed if the embryos are also mutant for Tm1ZCL0722.

psidin55D4 Tm1ZCL0722 double mutant Or59c olfactory receptor neuron (ORNs) show a marked reduction in the penetrance and severity of axonal targeting defects compared to psidin55D4 single mutant ORNs, but the reduction in the number of Or59c ORNs seen in psidin55D4 single mutant ORNs is not rescued in the double mutants.

Border follicle cells simultaneously homozygous for both Tm1ZCL0722 and psidin55D4 show less severe migration defects than single mutant border follicle cells.

Comments

Expression of psidinScer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4slbo.2.6 rescues the migration defects seen in homozygous psidin55D4 border cells.

Expression of psidinScer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act.PU rescues the lethality of psidin55D4/psidin85D1 animals.
