Imprecise excision of P{EPgy2}aurEY03490 removes the genomic sequence 168bp upstream and 1075bp downstream of the aur start codon, which includes most of the aur coding region from the 5'UTR, leaving only the DNA sequences that code for a part of the C-terminal region from amino acid 318.
