aurIM mutants die during eclosion. aurIM escapers display female sterility. aurIM adults, rescued by expression of aurScer\UAS.cWa under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PS display bristles containing two hairs, as well as slightly small and rough eyes and egg chamber abnormalities, in which the ring canal structure is occasionally twisted.

A rok2/+ heterozygous background suppresses the enhanced lethality of aurWK females bearing one copy of sqhE20.E21, and ameliorates the enhanced rough eye phenotype of these flies.

A zip1/+ heterozygous background mildly suppresses the enhanced lethality of aurWK females bearing one copy of sqhE20.E21, and mildly ameliorates the enhanced rough eye phenotype of these flies.

Introducing one copy of sqhA20.A21.T:Zzzz\FLAG into aurIM mutants does not affect lethality.
