UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of mir-998. The construct consists of E2f1 intron 5 in which mir-11 has been replaced by a mir-1 pre mRNA scaffold containing a short hairpin miRNA targeting mCherry and mir-998 has been replaced by a mir-1 pre mRNA scaffold containing mir-998.

Expression of mir-998Scer\UAS.cTa does not suppress the apoptosis seen in the wings of newly eclosed flies expressing E2f1Scer\UAS.cNa under the control of Scer\GAL4Act88F.PD.

Generation of eye disc clones expressing mir-998Scer\UAS.cTa suppresses the cell death seen in Rbf120a mutant eye discs.
