Expression of Fer2miRNA.Scer\UAS.5 under the control of Scer\GAL4Fer2.2359 has no effect on PAM dopaminergic neuron number until 35 days of age. However, at 49 days many flies have significantly fewer PAM neurons compared to controls. Late stage PAM neuron loss is also seen when Fer2miRNA.Scer\UAS.5 is expressed under the control of either Scer\GAL4GMR58E02 or Scer\GAL4Ddc.HL9. The PAL neurons are unaffected.
Restricting expression of Fer2miRNA.Scer\UAS.5 to the adult stages using Scer\GAL80 induces adult-onset progressive degeneration of PAM dopaminergic neurons without affecting PAL neurons.
Expression of Fer2miRNA.Scer\UAS.5 in PAM neurons under the control of Scer\GAL4Ddc.HL9 results in a significant decline in climbing ability after 49 days.
Fer2RNAi.UAS.5/Scer\GAL4Fer2.2359 is an enhancer of decreased cell number | adult stage | recessive | progressive phenotype of foxoΔ94
Fer2RNAi.UAS.5/Scer\GAL4Fer2.2359 is an enhancer of adult dopaminergic PAM neuron | adult stage | progressive phenotype of foxoΔ94
The expression of Fer2miRNA.UAS.5 under the control of Scer\GAL4Fer2.2359 enhances the progressive decrease in the number of adult PAM neurons but does not affect the number of adult PAL cluster neurons observed in foxoΔ94 homozygotes.
