Expression of Zzzz\bPACScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4c42 in the absence of blue light stimulation results in an increase in fluid secretion from the Malpighian tubules compared to controls. The addition of the Scer\GAL4tsh-c724 driver further increases the secretion rate (expression under the control of the Scer\GAL4tsh-c724 driver alone does not increase the secretion rate above that of controls).

Expression of Zzzz\bPACScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4tsh-c724 with light activation of low/intermediate intensities results in stimulation of fluid secretion from the Malpighian tubules, whereas high intensity light stimulation does not affect fluid secretion.

Expression of Zzzz\bPACScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4c42 stimulates fluid secretion from the Malpighian tubules at a light intensity of 0.2 mW/cm[2], but higher intensities of light activation result in inhibition of fluid secretion.

Co-expression of Pka-C1VDRC.cUa completely abolishes the light-activated stimulation of fluid secretion from the Malpighian tubules which is caused by expression of Zzzz\bPACScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4tsh-c724.

Animals expressing Zzzz\bPACScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4c42 in a Pka-C1B10/+ background show significant stimulation of fluid secretion from the Malpighian tubules in response to low light activation.

Animals expressing Zzzz\bPACScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4c42 and also co-expressing Pka-C1VDRC.cUa show significant stimulation of fluid secretion from the Malpighian tubules in response to low light activation.

Co-expression of EpacScer\UAS.cEa elevates light activated stimulation of fluid secretion from the Malpighian tubules caused by expression of Zzzz\bPACScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4c42, but has no effect on basal secretion rates.

Co-expression of EpacScer\UAS.cEa elevates both basal and stimulated fluid secretion from the Malpighian tubules caused by expression of Zzzz\bPACScer\UAS.cSa under the control of Scer\GAL4tsh-c724.
