ScerGAL4iav.PP drives expression in larval chordotonal organ neurons.
Blocking Cho neurons' function by expressing Hsap\KCNJ2UAS.EGFP under the control of Scer\GAL4iav.PP induces abnormal locomotor behavior, with severely increased periods of head lifting and spontaneous backward movements compared to controls, as well as severely higher frequency of bending their bodies laterally to greater than 90[o], which is rarely observed in wild-type controls.
Optogenetic activation (using Zzzz\ChR2.XXM.UAS.tdTomato with 440 nm (blue) light) of Scer\GAL4iav.PP cells in larvae significantly increases the duration of head swinging, compared to controls.
Optogenetically increasing cAMP levels (using Besp\bPACUAS.cSa with 460-500 nm light) in Scer\GAL4iav.PP cells in larvae reduces the response of lch5 neurons to mechanical stimulation, compared to controls.
