Description

A small deletion between the 5'UTR and the first exon of the Tm1C and Tm1I isoforms removes the initiating ATG codon and leads to several premature stop codons, resulting in an isoformC-specific null.

Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Tm1delC homozygous mutants are semi-viable with about 20% of them dying during pupation and display localization defects of both the osk mRNA (the mRNA delocalizes from the posterior oocyte cortex, however its ability to form oligomeric particles is not affected) and the vas protein in egg chambers. Localization of the oocyte nucleus, the grk mRNA or the Khc and Dhc64C proteins is not perturbed.

Comments

Expression of Tm1vas.C.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP completely restores the normal posterior localization of the osk mRNA in the Tm1delC mutant egg chambers.
