The Gr64f coding sequence has been replaced with sequence encoding a lexA::VP16 driver.
The Gr64f coding sequence has been replaced with sequence encoding a lexA::VP16 driver. A single loxP site is also present downstream of the inserted driver sequence.
Drives expression in sugar-sensing neurons of the labellar and leg taste bristles.
EcollexAVP16.Gr64f extensively, but not completely, overlaps with ScerGAL4Gr64f.9.7, driving expression in a couple more neurons in the labellar and prothoracic taste bristles than the latter. EcollexAVP16.Gr64f drives expression in 6 gustatory receptor neurons associated with the taste pegs and 4 gustatory receptor neurons of the adult labral sense organ. All of these labellar neurons and many of the tarsal S cells send projections to the adult subesophageal zone.
Inhibition (using Hsap\KCNJ2lexAop.cHa) of Ecol\lexAVP16.Gr64f cells in adult females results in a significant increase in preference for softer 100 mM sucrose-containing agarose for egg laying, compared to controls.
