su(Hw)A460 or su(Hw)7/Df(3R)su(Hw)-A1933 mutants are female fertile but the lack the gypsy insulator function (assayed through body, wing and bristle phenotypes induced by mutations in the y, ct and f genes).
The su(Hw)A460 allele partially complements each of the following alleles: su(Hw)V, su(Hw)2, su(Hw)e04061 or su(Hw)E8 as it restores their female fertility but fails to rescue their loss of gypsy insulator function (assayed through body, wing and bristle phenotypes induced by mutations in the y, ct and f genes) it also does not complement the separation-of-function alleles su(Hw)7 that only affects the gypsy insulator function, whereas it complements su(Hw)[M393] that only impairs female fertility.
su(Hw)M393 does, whereas su(Hw)A2663 does not, complement su(Hw)A460, a separation-of-function allele that only affects the gypsy insulator function.
