7bp deletion in the fourth exon of Clamp (upstream of the DNA-binding domain containing six zinc fingers) causes a frameshift, resulting in an early stop codon 14 amino acids after the mutation.
Deletion of 7 bases resulting in a frame shift after amino acid 328 and translation termination after 14 novel amino acids.
Clamp2 homozygotes larvae are developmentally delayed and show increased mortality (the males die earlier in development than the females) relative to controls and all die before adulthood. The polytene chromosomes from female Clamp2 homozygous mutant larvae are noticeably thinner relative to controls but no morphological defects are observed in the mitotic chromosomes from larval neuroblasts.
