11bp deletion in the NPF open reading frame causes a frameshift that truncates most of the ORF.
An 11 bp deletion near the amino-terminal end of the NPF coding sequence leads to a frameshift and early translation termination.
Thermogenetic activation (using TrpA1Scer\UAS.cUa at 29[o]C) of Scer\GAL4NPF.1 neurons in a NPFSK2/NPFSK2 background does not significantly affect sleep compared to controls (and these flies sleep significantly more than Scer\GAL4NPF.1>TrpA1Scer\UAS.cUa flies at 29[o]C). NPFSK2/NPFSK2 mutants do not exhibit a significant increase in sleep amount compared to controls. NPFSK2/NPFSK2 mutants do not exhibit the significant starvation-induced sleep loss that is seen in control flies.
