The nSyb promoter (1826 to +78) drives expression of a p65(AD)::Zip+ hemidriver (component of the 'Split GAL4' system, contains the GAL4 DNA-binding domain).
Inhibition (using shi1.UAS at 30[o]C) of neurons targeted by the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.AkhR and Hsap\RELAAD.nSyb in adult females results in loss of the significant starvation-induced increase in locomotor activity seen in controls; it does not affect the starvation-induced increase in food intake and does not affect feeding behavior under starvation conditions, compared to controls.
Activation (using Bhal\NaChBacUAS.cNa) of neurons targeted by the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.AkhR and Hsap\RELAAD.nSyb in adult females results in acceleration of starvation-induced hyperactivity, compared to controls; it does not affect the starvation-induced increase in food intake and does not affect feeding behavior under starvation conditions, compared to controls.
