The expression of MarfWT.UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU does not have a significant effect in adult climbing ability but induces bigger mitochondria in larval motor neuron cell bodies, as compared to controls.
Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4VGlut-OK371 also induces bigger mitochondria (significantly longer mitochondria segments) in larval motor neuron cell bodies, which are still able to fuse and their cristae and matrix are still electron dense and not distended, but does not significantly affect the number of mitochondria in their neuromuscular boutons, as compared to controls. This expression also leads to a mild decrease in the number of photoreceptor cells per ommatidia, as compared to controls.
