Description
Description
The RNA exosome is a 3'-5' exonuclease complex present in the nucleus and cytoplasm that can process and degrade many types of RNAs, including mRNA, rRNA, snRNA, snoRNA and tRNA. In yeast and humans, the exosome has a barrel structure, the core of which is formed by a ring of six RNase PH domain subunits and a cap of three S1/KH-domain subunits. (Adapted from FBrf0210381 and PMID:27345150).
Notes on Group

Drosophila exosome complexes appear to differ from other eukaryotes as they lack an ortholog to the Rrp43 RNase PH domain subunit (FBrf0210381).

Rrp47 has not been included in the RNA EXOSOME COMPLEXES (RNA-EXO) gene group, as it is considered to be a cofactor (FBrf0210381). CG17982 has not been included, but has been reported to co-purify with this complex under certain experimental conditions (FBrf0155992).
