This report includes general reviews of cancer models in Drosophila; see the References section. Reviews for specific categories of cancer can be found in the appropriate human disease model reports; see reports listed in 'Related Diseases', below. The complete list of Drosophila models of cancer is extensive; see the FlyBase Human Disease Model Report Index (http://flybase.org/lists/FBhh/).
Drosophila genetic methods useful in the context of cancer models are reviewed in Villegas et al., 2019 (FBrf0243409). Mosaic analysis is a technique used frequently in fly models of cancer; see also Germani, et al., 2018 (FBrf0237959) for a review of these methods. General methods including the GAL4/UAS system, imaging, and drug screening are described in Cagan et al., 2019 (FBrf0244362). Use of Drosophila models and methods for assessment of large cancer datasets is reviewed in Bangi, 2020 (FBrf0245764).
