Description

The I-SceI entry in FlyBase represents the homing endonuclease encoded by the self-splicing group-I intron of the 21S rRNA gene of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae mitochondrial genome. I-SceI recognizes an 18bp target site (RS(I-SceI)), with cleavage generating a double-strand DNA break (PMID:2183191).
