Comments

The approximate location of the distal breakpoint of Df(3L)st4 was determined by PCR amplification of DNA fragments from Df(3L)Exel6128/Df(3L)st4 flies. The distal breakpoint of Df(3L)st4 is proximal to the DNA sequence CCGTTACACGTTGTACACC (base pairs 16173092 to 16173111 of the third chromosome, Release 5.30) and distal to the sequence CGAGGAGTTAAGGTCTCAG (base pairs 16176676 to 16176694 of the third chromosome, Release 5.30).

Affected Genes Inferred by Location (0)
If no genes are listed here, it may be because the affected region is very large. The JBrowse insert above may show an error for the same reason, and other FlyBase tools such as CytoSearch may also fail for large regions. You can contact FlyBase for more help.
In these cases, there will be no "Export to Hitlist" button to the left.
    Phenotypic Data
    In combination with other aberrations

Df(3L)Exel6128/Df(3L)st4 flies are viable, despite the fact these deficiencies overlap.

NOT in combination with other aberrations

Does not cause unconditional lethality in hybrid females when heterozygous with D.simulans chromosome.

Weak second site non-complementing phenotype with zipEbr and zipmhc-c6.1 : malformed phenotype penetrance 10-24%.

Heterozygosity for this deletion has no effect on the mutant ovarian phenotype of ovoD2.

    Other Comments

Used in D.melanogaster/D.simulans hybrids to map at least four non-overlapping regions on the D.simulans 3R that have effects on the species difference of cuticular hydrocarbon profile.
