The phenotype of Abd-Biab7-MX2/Abd-Biab8-D14 is unaffected by alleles of z.

Does not affect the level of w expression in ph-plac+3 flies.

za; UbxCbx-1/+ do not differ from UbxCbx-1/+, whereas the wings of za; Ubx1:Cbx-1/+ are considerably less haltere-like than those of Ubx1:Cbx-1/+. Suppresses transactivation of the wild type Ubx gene by its UbxCbx-1 homologue.

Introduction of za reduces the expression of single copies of w in pairing-sensitive and pairing-insensitive lines. Eye colour of flies carrying two copies of the pairing-sensitive iab-7 PRE lines becomes darker in combination with za : suppression of iab-7 PRE silencing.
