100% of ptchdl/ptc4 transheterozygotes show head capsule defects.

ptc4/ptcG20 flies have very abnormal legs, showing overgrowth, excess bristles, truncations and segments of abnormal length.

Homozygous mutant clones present in the anterior compartment of the male foreleg cause bifurcation.

Clonal analysis of cells lacking ptc demonstrates that lack of ptc function is able to de-repress the dpp gene.

ptc4/ptcG20 transheterozygotes partially or totally lack triple-row bristles.

No reduction in rate of germ band extension, in wg, ptc, en triple mutants.

Mutant embryos have abnormal naked cuticle and row-1 and row-2-type ventral denticles.
