Detailed Description
Statement

Homozygotes show trx-G like phenotypes. In 10-20% of male flies abdominal tergites 5 or 6 are transformed towards a more anterior segment (judged by pigmentation) and the halteres are transformed towards wing (with penetrance of about 20%). Posterior transformation characteristic of Pc-G mutations are also seen. Third or fourth abdominal segment become more posterior.

Adult AsxP1 homozygotes show anterior and posterior directed homeotic transformations in the same individuals. This suggests that changes in AsxP1 chromatin structure make homeotic gene activation and repression more difficult.

Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

In combination with trxB11, the haltere is much enlarged over that seen for AsxP1 alone, T3 is partially transformed towards T2. These phenotypes have a penetrance of close to 100%. AsxP1 enhances both the penetrance and expressivity of trxZ11. AsxP1 strongly enhances the extra sex combs phenotype and abdominal homeotic transformations associated with Pc4.
