argosΔ7/argos257 flies have blisters in the eye.

Only 3% of eggs derived from argos257/argosp1 have defects in dorsal appendage morphology.

Homozygotes exhibit failure of head involution. The PNS exhibits an increase in the number of Ch organs. rho6 argos257 double mutants exhibit the same phenotype as the rho6 single mutant: loss of two of five Ch organs at LCh5 and one ventral Ch organ in all abdominal segments.

Regular ommatidial array is disrupted and posterior region of the eye is blistered.

In embryos, the optic lobe primordium does not form a complete circle after invagination, and can be mislocated at the dorsal surface of the brain. In larvae, the morphology of the outer optic anlagen is disorganized. Optic lobes can be fused at the dorsal surface. Proliferating cells in the inner proliferation center decrease in number. Retinal axons do not innervate the lamina properly.
