Description

P{EP} insertion 443bp upstream of the esg translation initiation codon. The P{EP} element is oriented such that expression from the element should result in overexpression of esg.

P{EP} insertion at +564bp of the transcription unit.

Expression using Scer\GAL4ey.PU does not induce a rough eye phenotype.

Third instar larvae expressing esgEP684 under the control of Scer\GAL4Pxn.PS have an increased number of sessile hemocytes. The number of hemocytes in circulation is also increased. The dorsal sessile hemocyte department is disrupted. Sessile hemocytes do not accumulate along the dorsal vessel but spread through the cuticle. The lymph gland is enlarged. Hemocyte shape is normal.

Expression of esgEP684 under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH results in eyes that are slightly reduced in size. Flies expressing esgEP684 under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E have scalloped wings.

Expression of esgEP684 under the control of Scer\GAL4sca-537.4 results in complete loss of all macrochaetae and microchaetae on the notum, and no sheath cells.

No obvious phenotype.

Expression of esgEP684 under the control of Scer\GAL4hs.2sev results in small glassy eyes.

The bang sensitivity of bss1/+ flies (more than 50% of flies are bang sensitive) is substantially suppressed by the expression of esgEP684 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu. However, the 100% bang sensitivity of bss1/bss1 flies is not suppressed by the expression of esgEP684 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu. The 100% bang sensitivity of eas2/Y flies can be suppressed by expression of esgEP684 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (flies have 4% bang sensitivity), Scer\GAL4Cha.7.4 (flies have 88% bang sensitivity) or Scer\GAL4G14 (flies have 78% bang sensitivity), but it not suppressed by expression of esgEP684 under the control of Scer\GAL4OK6. The seizure sensitivity of eas2 flies is partially suppressed by expression of esgEP684 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu; the mean seizure threshold is raised to 15.5 +/- 5.7 V (for a high frequency stimulus of 0.5msec pulses delivered at 200Hz for 300 msec).

Co-expression of CycEScer\UAS.cLa does not suppress the small eye phenotype caused by expression of esgEP684 under the control of Scer\GAL4ey.PH.
