Description

Mobilisation of P{lacW}Kr-h1k04411 has caused a deletion that uncovers sequences downstream of the Kr-h1 transcription unit, with a breakpoint close to the original insertion site deleting sequences away from Kr-h1.

Homozygotes show apparently normal embryonic development until the first half the first instar larval stage. However mutant complete embryogenesis 2-4 hours later than their heterozygous siblings. As the first instar advances homozygous animals become more and more sluggish in their movements and finally stop moving and their development finally stop in the second half of the first instar. Kr-h17id/Kr-h17.1 and Kr-h17.1/Kr-h1k04411 animals die as late prepupae and show abnormal spiracle positioning.

Kr-h1k04411/Kr-h17.1 animals that reached pupariation show a more extreme form of the deformed phenotype seen than in Kr-h1k04411 homozygotes. Aberrant positioning of the anterior spiracles, close to the midline) is occasionally seen in these pupae.
