    dltdre1 mutant eyes, generated using the Minute technique, can be significantly smaller than wild-type eyes, although this phenotype is extremely variable. BrdU incorporation is still able to occur during eye development, indicating that DNA synthesis during proliferation is not affected. dltdre1 cell clones in the eye imaginal disc generated using the FLP/FRT technique are of a similar size to wild-type cells, but these clones can never survive to be found in the adult compound eye. dltdre1 FLP/FRT cell clones are also of a similar size to wild-type cells when induced in the wing disc.

    Homozygous follicle cell clones induced before formation of the follicular epithelium show gaps of variable size in the epithelium.

    dltdre1/Df(3L)Aprt-126 and dltdre1/Df(3L)MY10 animals die as third instar larvae or early pupae which lack imaginal discs. Salivary gland cells have an abnormal, rounded morphology. dltdre1/dltS059504 animals die as fully developed pupae with leg duplications.

    FlyBase curator comment: The "dltdre1" allele (FBal0121802) corresponds to either dlt1 (FBal0009635) or dlt2 (FBal0009636) (these 2 alleles were isolated in FBrf0049893), but there is not enough information to know which of the 2 alleles it corresponds to.
