Mutants show a duplicated second, third and sixth/arista antennal segments. The effect varies and may not affect all segments. Sometimes triplications occur. Maxillary structures may be duplicated or absent, eyes may be reduced and bristles on the face may be abnormal.

obk1, Antp73b (or AntpNs), hthdtl-S142204 triple mutants produce biramous antenna/legs in place of single antennae. Biramous appendages also appear in obk1, ssa combinations. obk1, Antphs.PHTA produces bi- or polyramous appendages with both antenna and leg combinations after heat shocks of 40 min duration at either 56 or 60 hours after hatch.
Partially complements: enE. enE fails to complement the wing venation defects of obk1 but complements the antennal duplciation and eye bristle phenotype.
