Approximately 50% of animals carrying MP1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ and Scer\GAL4Act die at the late pupal stage or during eclosion. Adults expressing MP1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ under the control of Scer\GAL4Act do not show melanisation around a wound site a few hours after infection by piercing with a tungsten needle harboring E.coli and M.luteus, in contrast to control flies which show significant melanisation around the wound site.
Adult flies expressing MP1dsRNA.Scer\UAS.WIZ under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 show a similar survival rate to control flies after bacterial (E.carotovora, E.faecalis) and fungal (B.bassiana) infection.
