Detailed Description

Expression of ApcGD1333 under the Scer\GAL4esg-NP7397 driver (combined with tub-Gal80[ts] for temporal control) limited to either during the formation of adult midgut or after eclosion, i.e. during the gut homeostasis, results in both contexts in increased number of progenitor cells (intestinal stem cells, ISCs, and enteroblasts, EBs).

Clones of progenitor cells and their progeny in the posterior midgut (induced by the 'flip-out' method) expressing ApcGD1333 driven by Scer\GAL4Act.PU show increased number of mitotic cells compared to control clones.

Adults expressing ApcGD1333 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

The increased number of progenitor cells (intestinal stem cells and enteroblasts) observed in adult flies expressing ApcGD1333 under the control of Scer\GAL4esg-NP7397 is fully suppressed by co-expression of any of the following: ebd1GD10952, ebd1JF02926, ewgJF01569 or ewgJF01783.
