Pan-neural expression of Cdk5GD13840 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155 has a minor effect on longevity (a 16% reduction in medial survival).

Adults expressing Cdk5GD13840 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) show significantly reduced avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Adults expressing Cdk5GD13840 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) show no significant change in the kinetics of high temperature (46[o]C) induced paralysis compared to control flies.

The eye defects caused by expression of ninaEG69D.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF are strongly suppressed by co-expression of Cdk5GD13840. The massive apoptosis seen in the larval eye discs of animals expressing ninaEG69D.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF is suppressed by co-expression of Cdk5GD13840.

The time course of retinal degeneration seen in ninaEG69D/+ flies is delayed in by expression of Cdk5GD13840 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.

Reduction of Cdk5 transcript abundance, through the expression of Cdk5GD13840 does not affect the eye degeneration seen in eyes expressing Hsap\ATXN3tr.Q78.Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 (all transgenes under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.long).

Reduction of Cdk5 transcript abundance, through the expression of Cdk5GD13840 in eyes expressing Hsap\ATXN3fl.Q84.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC (all transgenes under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.long) causes a disturbed eye surface and a loss of pigmentation.

RNAi-mediated Cdk5 reduction in Hsap\ATXN3fl.Q84.Scer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC-expressing flies (under the control of Scer\GAL4elav-C155) results in an almost 50% reduction of median survival compared to controls.

Co-expression of Cdk5GD13840 does not affect the rough eye phenotype caused by expression of p53GUS.PB under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PF.
