Expression of Sirt1GD11580 under the control of Scer\GAL4Hand.PU leads to significantly reduced heart period, systolic interval, fractional shortening and diastolic interval, whereas it leads to significantly increased diastolic dysfunction index, diastolic diameter and systolic diameter when compared to control adults.

Expression of Sirt1GD11580 under the control of either Scer\GAL4αTub84B.Switch.PK or Scer\GAL4Switch1.106, but not Scer\GAL4Mhc.Switch.PO (and keeping the flies on medium containing RU486 to induce the expression) results in significantly reduced survival upon starvation compared to wild-type controls.

Adults expressing Sirt1GD11580 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 may result in semi-lethality, depending on the insertion line used.

The reduced survival upon starvation characteristic for flies expressing Sirt1GD11580 under the control of Scer\GAL4Switch1.106 (and keeping the flies on medium containing RU486 to induce the expression) cannot be suppressed by combination with a single copy of chico1 (even though without the induction of Sirt1GD11580 expression by RU486 the Sirt1GD11580;Scer\GAL4[Switch1.106],chico1/+ flies live longer than the uninduced Sirt1GD11580;Scer\GAL4Switch1.106-only flies).

The increase in food consumption compared to controls seen in adults expressing mnbScer\UAS.cHa under the control of Scer\GAL4sNPF-R.2.5 is suppressed by co-expression of Sir2GD11580.

Co-expression of Sirt1KK109370 or Sirt1GD11580 partially suppresses eye phenotypes seen in Scer\GAL4ey.PU>Pink1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 flies.
